Curzon has debuted the official trailer for ‘The Stranger,’ François Ozon’s bold and gripping adaptation of Albert Camus’ seminal literary classic. The film stars Benjamin Voisin (Summer of 85) as Meursault, an emotionally detached Frenchman living in 1930s Algeria who commits a senseless murder that reshapes the course of his life.
Set in Algiers, 1938, the story follows Meursault, a quiet man in his early thirties who attends his mother’s funeral without shedding a tear. The following day, he begins a casual romance with his colleague Marie and slips back into the rhythms of ordinary life. But his detached routine is soon disturbed by his neighbour, Raymond Sintès, whose murky dealings pull Meursault toward an irreversible moment. On a blisteringly hot afternoon, beneath the unforgiving glare of the Algerian sun, a tragic act unfolds on a beach—one that will define everything that follows.
