The game is on — and this time, survival is the prize. Paramount Pictures has released an adrenaline-charged new trailer for ‘The Running Man,’ director Edgar Wright’s pulse-pounding reimagining of the classic dystopian story, starring Glen Powell as an ordinary man thrown into an extraordinary — and deadly — televised nightmare.
Set in a near-future society where entertainment and violence collide, The Running Man centres on a nation obsessed with the world’s most-watched show — a brutal competition where contestants, known as Runners, must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins, with every second broadcast to millions of eager viewers. Each day survived means more money, but also deadlier odds.
Powell stars as Ben Richards, a struggling working-class father who volunteers for the lethal game in a desperate bid to save his sick daughter. But when the show’s charming yet ruthless producer, Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), brings him into the spotlight, Ben’s resilience and rebellion make him an instant fan favourite — and a growing threat to the system that feeds on fear and spectacle.
The trailer teases Wright’s trademark kinetic energy, sharp humour, and propulsive style — from explosive action sequences and adrenaline-fuelled chase scenes to tense, satirical glimpses of a society glued to screens. Supporting roles feature an impressive ensemble cast, including William H. Macy, Lee Pace, Emilia Jones, Michael Cera, Daniel Ezra, Jayme Lawson, and Colman Domingo.
