Yesterday evening Mackenzie Foy and Keira Knightley came to the capital to deliver the Christmas present that is The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. This is Disney’s live-action adaptation of  E.T.A. Hoffmann’s The Nutcracker and the Mouse King and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker about a young girl who finds a Nutcracker doll among the family’s gifts and is charged by her parents to take special care of it.

Mackenzie Foy talked about the physicality of the role, how her martial arts training helped her, and if she’d be up for a sequel and what she thinks of her fans. Keira Knightley told us how she cherished the opportunity to do something less serious than her recent roles such as Colette, and what it felt like to be a cake. She also talked about finding her voice through the music. Ellie Bamber talked about the BBC production of Les Miserable. Doctor Who and Star Wars actor Richard E. Grant talked about the opulent production as well as working on Episode IX, Omid Djalili talked mostly about Chelsea FC and Frank Lampard.

The film is directed by A Dog’s Purpose and Chocolat’s Lasse Hallström from a screenplay by  Ashleigh Powell. The Nutcracker and the Four Realms Premiere Interviews

PLOT:

All Clara (Mackenzie Foy) wants is a key – a one-of-a-kind key that will unlock a box that holds a priceless gift from her late mother. A golden thread, presented to her at godfather Drosselmeyer’s (Morgan Freeman) annual holiday party, leads her to the coveted key—which promptly disappears into a strange and mysterious parallel world. It’s there that Clara encounters a soldier named Phillip (Jayden Fowora-Knight), a gang of mice and the regents who preside over three Realms: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets. Clara and Phillip must brave the ominous Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren), to retrieve Clara’s key and hopefully return harmony to the unstable world.
