Disney Studios and Lucasfilm have released the highly anticipated first trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu,’ the next chapter in the ever-expanding galaxy far, far away. The film will open exclusively in cinemas on May 22, 2026, marking the big-screen debut of Din Djarin and Grogu after their hit Disney+ adventures.
The trailer promises an epic new mission for the iconic duo. Set in the aftermath of the Empire’s fall, Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy, plotting in the shadows. As the fragile New Republic struggles to defend the legacy of the Rebellion, they turn to the formidable Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice, Grogu, to take on their most perilous challenge yet.
Directed by Jon Favreau, the footage showcases sweeping battles, interstellar spectacle, and the emotional bond between Din and Grogu that has captivated fans worldwide. The film also introduces a new face to the galaxy, with Academy Award-winner Sigourney Weaver joining the cast in a mysterious role.
The project brings together an all-star creative team: Favreau is joined by producers Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce, while Oscar®-winning composer Ludwig Göransson returns to deliver another soaring Star Wars score.
