Disney’s live action arm has been building its strength of late, and the plundering of their own vaults for much-loved stories to bring to the big screen is a sensible move.
Jon Favreau’s adaptation of The Jungle Book has much to live up to, but on the evidence of this first trailer there is a lot to be excited about. The CG looks impeccable, and the cast (including Bill Murray, Idris Elba, Christopher Walken and Lupita Nyong’o joining newcomer Neel Sethi as Mowgli) is second to none.
Favreau knows how to handle the CG-heavy movie, and the spirit and songs of the original Disney animated version will bridge the generation gap nicely. Also – Scarlett Johannson’s sexy, snakey voiceover is just too perfect here. Sign me up.
The film is out here in the UK on the 15th of April.
