Chaos RSVPs “yes” in the first trailer for ‘The Invite,’ the razor-edged new dark comedy from director Olivia Wilde. Released by Black Bear Pictures in the UK, the film turns a simple dinner party into a slow-burning social catastrophe where every polite smile hides a crack ready to split.
At the centre of the storm are Joe and Angela, a couple barely holding it together. Their relationship is already teetering, but when their upstairs neighbours arrive for an ill-fated evening of food and forced civility, things unravel with almost theatrical precision. The trailer hints at escalating tension, awkward revelations, and a cascade of disasters that spiral far beyond social embarrassment into something far more unhinged.
Wilde not only directs but also stars alongside a stacked cast including Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz, and Edward Norton. The screenplay comes from Rashida Jones.
