Lionsgate has officially dropped the full trailer for ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’, plunging audiences back into the brutal, spectacle-driven world of Panem with a story that predates Katniss Everdeen’s rebellion by decades.
The prequel centres on a young Haymitch Abernathy, portrayed by Joseph Zada, long before he became the hardened mentor fans met in ‘The Hunger Games’. Set 24 years before the original story, the film opens on the morning of the reaping for the Fiftieth Hunger Games, infamously known as the Second Quarter Quell — a twisted edition of the Games that doubles the number of tributes and amplifies the Capitol’s cruelty.
At the helm is franchise veteran Francis Lawrence, who returns to direct. The ensemble cast includes Jesse Plemons, Ralph Fiennes, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Mckenna Grace, Maya Hawke, Whitney Peak, and Kelvin Harrison Jr..
