This past weekend saw WrestleMania blow wrestling fans away once again as over 70,000 fans packed themselves into Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara to see The Rock and Ronda Rousey confront Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, while Seth Rollins cashed in to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
Now, if you’re not a fan of wrestling, chances are nothing in the paragraph above made a lick of sense.

Here, we take a look at some of the most significant movies which have starred wrestlers and examine both what their big screen appearances have led to as well as what they might mean for the future of Hollywood.
10. The Rock (The Scorpion King)
It feels wrong in some ways to highlight what some would call one of the worst movies of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s acting career, but its importance can’t be denied or ignored.
After a cameo in The Mummy Returns, the wrestler took an extended leave of absence from the WWE to kick off his acting career with The Scorpion King, and it was this prequel which helped open the door to Johnson becoming one of Hollywood’s highest grossing actors.
He showed off the charisma which had been on full display to wrestling fans for years in this movie, and it finally proved that, yes, there are at least some wrestlers who can really act.
