A few months ago, I was lucky enough to go over to the US for Wondercon in San Francisco. While there, I perused the stalls as everyone does at this rather unique event. During my travels, I found something that caught my eye and I’ve sort of been waiting for today to post it… why? Well, today marks exactly 25 years since The Goonies was released in the US. To mark the celebration, many of the original Goonies are in Astoria, Oregon to celebrate along with hundreds of Goonies fans from across the world.

We have Andy Petrou out there for HeyUGuys and as you can see from the photos that Jon put up, she’s having rather an awesome time meeting Cory Feldman, Sean Astin, Joe Pantoliano and director, Richard Donner. The Goonies to me is everything that I loved about my childhood. I remember watching the movie over, and over again and still to this day, it brings back so many amazing nostalgic memories of when I saw it for the first time 25 years ago (when I was 4!). I know the script inside and out and although that’s rather sad, I don’t care! Without The Goonies, HeyUGuys wouldn’t exist in this form and it’s all thanks to you!

This image was drawn by Stephen Silver (his website is Silvertoons.com where you can buy this and many more) and since I’ve been back from Wondercon, it’s been rolled up in a tube but today is the day it’s freed from this tube and placed on a wall in living memory of all things Goonies.

Thanks so much to everyone who made The Goonies possible and for making movies that live on for tens of years – to this day, will be one of the all-time classic kids movies.
