It’s not every day you get to sit down with a Sir and a Dame at the same time, but that happened during the promotional tour for The Good Liar, as we discussed this excellent thriller with its leading stars, Ian McKellen and Helen Mirren. We discussed the notion of having fun, and just how important it is for actors to enjoy themselves when shooting, which these evidently did when making this film. They also talk about working together (for the first time on screen, no less) and tell us who they would love to work with one day, before we asked how they would feel in a role that requires de-ageing technology, much like we’ve seen in The Irishman.

We also spoke to the director Bill Condon, and he tells us about the allure in a project that provides roles of this nature to older, more experienced performers. He also goes into the detail on the challenges in getting a movie of this nature off the ground, in a market saturated with sequels, reboots and whatnot.
