Hugh Jackman says he is too thin-skinned to get into politics, but his TIFF press conference cohort for The Front Runner (Director Jason Reitman, Producer Helen Estabrook, Writers Jay Carlson and Matt Bai, on whose book “All the Truth is Out” the film is based) would vote for him.

Telling the story of the 1998 Presidential candidate Gary Hart, and his career-ending scandal, Jackman and Reitman wanted to find the humanity in politics – no easy task. They talk about the strange true life tale of Hart, how his story would barely register on today’s wall to wall news coverage, and how Jackman found the man beneath the headlines.

The film stars Jackman as Hart, Vera Farmiga, Kaitlyn Dever, Sara Paxton, Molly Ephraim, Alfred Molina, J. K. Simmons, Bill Burr and Courtney Ford. Here are highlights of the full press conference from Toronto.
