Claustrophobia, Paranoia & Chris Morris – the New Trailer for Richard Ayoade’s The Double Arrives

From windswept seafronts and the blossoming of a burgeoning romance in Submarine director Richard Ayoade’s next film is a very different affair with paranoia played for laughs in a darkly comic dystopian society.

Ayoade’s The Double played very well on this year’s festival circuit (our positive review from Toronto is here) and it seems the director has handled the change of pace with aplomb. Jesse Eisenberg plays the titular double in the Dostoyevsky adaptation and reviewers have singled the actor out for his sterling work in fleshing out the two distinct characters.

Mia Wasikowska, Noah Taylor and Yasmin Paige are along for the ride and the closing moments of this new trailer reveal a cameo from old IT Crowd cohort Chris Morris. If there’s anyone who does gleeful mania well it’s him…

The film is out here in the UK on the 4th of April and it’s a must-see, not least as Ayoade is emerging as one of our most talented new directors.
