This may be an unpopular choice but the first Scary Movie was funny. It brought to light problems in films and was like a live-action version of Family Guy with its constant referencing. It made loads of jokes about problems in Scream and a load of other horror films. Then the sequel happened…
It seemed to be nothing but the bad bits which is usually the way of sequels. They seem to have this ability to highlight the worst parts, dragging them to the spotlight whilst forgetting the rest of what made it good. Focusing on boring simple jokes like low-brow, witless toilet humour. This exposes all of those problems and its tone of the opening scene mocking The Exorcist really shows where the rest of the film goes and how that level of quality – or lack of – will remain throughout.
It has very few laughs and destroys the original because, after watching this, you’ll only focus on the negatives that inspired this cretinous creation. Also, this sequel spawned other sequels that ruin the original more and more. It’s now heavily outnumbered.
