The Exorcist / Exorcist II: The Heretic
Was this really necessary? What the hell was this? Why did it happen? It slaps the mythology in the first and its ending in the face with a trout that’s been left out in the sun for three weeks.
It completely ruins the ending of the original film, throwing it all away as if it was canon when in fact this film should be classed as canon, much like Alien vs. Predator. This horrendous atrocity almost ruined a classic horror film by disregarding most of its predecessor when in reality the public should disregard this.
Getting another sequel 23 years later was strange that thankfully wasn’t as angering or as bad as this dollop of pain. This is the studios capitalising on a success and churning out another for financial reasons only. It seemed no one got the fact that it ruined the ending of the first attributing to a painful distortion of the first. It’s like Alien 3 which disregards the ending to Aliens as if the ending that was previous wasn’t good enough.
