Since last year’s Palme d’Or-winning The Tree of Life, Terrence Malick has become something of a prolific filmmaker.

He’s got two feature films currently in the works in the form of Knight of Cups and Lawless (which may or may not see its title change, given that John Hillcoat’s previously titled The Wettest County has been re-titled Lawless). And for some time now, he’s had an untitled project already completed and in post-production.

Untitled, that is, until now. The Film Stage have picked up that the official Classifications and Rating Administration has listed the title as To The Wonder, and given it an R rating in the Us for “some sexuality/nudity.”

The cast is one of the best and most interesting line-ups of the moment, headed up by Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, and Olga Kurylenko, with Javier Bardem, Michael Sheen, Rachel Weisz, Jessica Chastain, Amanda Peet, and Barry Pepper all supporting.

Sounds pretty damn awesome, right?

Written and directed by Malick, the film,

“concerns a philanderer (Ben Affleck) who, feeling at loose ends, travels to Paris, where he enters a hot-and-heavy affair with a European woman (Olga Kurylenko). Said Lothario returns home to Oklahoma, where he marries the European woman (in part for visa reasons). When the relationship founders, he rekindles a romance with a hometown girl (Rachel McAdams) with whom he’s had a long history.”

Though there’s no word yet on a release date (we’re hoping sometime in 2012, but Malick may be too busy on his next two projects for that to happen), StudioCanal have already aquired the UK distribution rights, so we can sleep soundly in the comfort that it definitely will be reaching our shores. More as we get it.
