With box office analysts predicting that The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be one of the most financially successful releases of 2013 which you can check out our verdict of by clicking here), it’s clear that big screen adaptations of Young Adult novels might just be the next big thing in Hollywood.

Twilight has of course already showed that the appeal is there, so the question now is how can the current big thing – comic book movies – take advantage of this popular new trend? Well, there are a lot of teenage superheroes out there, many of whom are extremely deserving of their own television series or movie.

Oh, and don’t panic, because there’s no need to “Twilight-ify” any of these. Instead, they could just be a new wave of releases which appeal both to current fans and the millions of teenagers who love the likes of The Hunger Games.

10. Young Avengers

YA

No, the Young Avengers aren’t simply just younger versions of the current team! Instead, the original roster was made up of Patriot (the grandson of the original Captain America), Hulkling (Captain Mar-vell’s shape-shifting son), Wiccan and Speed (the children of Scarlet Witch), Iron Lad (a young Kang the Conqueror from the future), Hawkeye (a capable archer who took on the mantle of the then deceased Clint Barton), Stature (the daughter of former Ant-Man, Scott Lang) and Vision. That’s quite a roster, eh?

They’re a group of characters who Marvel Studios hold the rights to, so put to one side any fears that there would be a few missing members, a la Avengers Assemble! This group is so varied and features so many different personalities, it has the potential to appeal to a huge demographic and could last for years and years if it were to join the likes of Daredevil and Luke Cage as one of Netflix’s planned series’.
