The fantastic first trailer for Anna Karenina debuted last month, giving us a beautiful glimpse of what is promising to be a strong Oscar contender come the end of the year.

Keira Knightley returns to work with director Joe Wright (Pride and Prejudice, Atonement) once more, and now a stunning new poster has debuted over at Moviefone, adding to the wonderful two posters we’ve already seen.

“The third collaboration of Academy Award nominee Keira Knightley with director Joe Wright, following the award-winning box office successes “Pride & Prejudice” and “Atonement,” is the epic love story “Anna Karenina,” adapted from Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel by Academy Award winner Tom Stoppard (“Shakespeare in Love”). The story unfolds in its original late-19th-century Russia high-society setting and powerfully explores the capacity for love that surges through the human heart, from the passion between adulterers to the bond between a mother and her children. As Anna (Ms. Knightley) questions her happiness, change comes to her family, friends, and community.”

Starring alongside Knightley will be an impressive cast, headed up by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jude Law, Matthew Macfadyen, Kelly Macdonald, Emily Watson, Domhnall Gleeson, Holliday Grainger, and Olivia Williams.

Tom Stoppard, the Oscar-winning writer behind Shakespeare in Love, has penned the script, adapting Leo Tolstoy’s original novel.

On a minor note: The film will be Aaron Johnson’s first credit as Aaron Taylor-Johnson, following his marriage to Sam Taylor-Wood (now Sam Taylor-Johnson) last month.

Anna Karenina will be released in the UK on 7th September, followed by a slightly later release in the US on 9th November, which perhaps confirms Focus Features’ intentions to give it an awards campaign. As usual with this fantastic third poster, you can click to enlarge.
