In what’s likely to be a very controversial decision if true, Disney and Lucasfilm are planning on giving Star Wars: The Force Awakens a post-credit scene similar to the Marvel movies!

It will apparently consist of a clip and teaser for Gareth Edwards’ Star Wars: Rogue One, and sounds fairly similar to the first look at The Avengers which was attached to Captain America: The First Avenger back in 2011. As Rogue One is the next Star Wars movie after The Force Awakens, this makes sense, but would be something totally new for the franchise.

It also runs the risk of confusing regular moviegoers; after all, Rogue One is set between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, so it seems strange for a movie set thirty years after the events of Return of the Jedi to be setting up what is essentially a prequel!

With Rian Johnson confirmed to be shooting scenes for Star Wars Episode VIII this week, it seems far more likely that if we are getting an after-credits scene, it will be for that.

Unfortunately, we’re going to have to wait and see for now. The source of this rumour is fairly reliable, but there’s been so much Star Wars misinformation, take it with a pinch of salt!
