While UK moviegoers are usually lucky enough to get Marvel’s offerings a couple of weeks ahead of the US, there’s still a big difference in release dates between the two countries for the vast majority of movies, and that means many films don’t reach this side of the pond until weeks (or sometimes months) after America. It’s a frustrating trend, that’s for sure.

While it was thought that Star Wars: The Force Awakens would be receiving a worldwide release on December 18th, it actually turns out that it’s among the handful of blockbusters with will be reaching Britain – and France – before it hits big screens in North America.

The Star Wars UK social media accounts have confirmed that the movie will now be released in 99 days on December 17th. That’s obviously only a difference of 24 hours, but for Star Wars fans, getting to see The Force Awakens a day sooner than expected is obviously very exciting indeed. For those not living in the UK, it will probably be best to keep away from social media that day as spoilers will no doubt be all over the place sooner than expected.
