After we’ve all spent so much time dealing with rumours about Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it feels a little strange for there to now be so much concrete information out there.

The latest comes from director J.J. Abrams following those two cover reveals (check them out by clicking here), as he’s revealed some surprising new details about both The First Order and Kylo Ren, the mysterious masked villain played by Girls star Adam Driver.

“‘That all came out of conversations about what would have happened if the Nazis all went to Argentina but then started working together again?'” Abrams said of the Stormtroopers who will be in The Force Awakens. “What could be born of that? Could The First Order exist as a group that actually admired The Empire? Could the work of The Empire be seen as unfulfilled? And could Vader be a martyr? Could there be a need to see through what didn’t get done?”

That’s an interesting twist, especially as most of us have assumed that The First Order were the remnants of the Empire. Instead, it seems like they may have just been inspired by them, and specifically Darth Vader. It’s already been revealed that Kylo is some sort of Vader obsessive, so this actually makes a lot of sense, but there’s another interesting twist!

“Kylo Ren is not a Sith. He works under Supreme Leader Snoke, who is a powerful figure on the Dark Side of the Force.” Star Wars: The Force Awakens can’t get here soon enough…
