As secretive as Star Wars: The Force Awakens may be, we’ve seen a lot of set photos and a lot of leaked production art over the past six months or so. A lot of that artwork was confirmed as being legitimate when the first teaser trailer was released and featured a number of by then familiar looking locations and vehicles.

We spotted a couple of normal looking TIE Fighters battling it out with the Millennium Falcon in the trailer of course, but the one below features one of those and what appears to be some sort of special design.

As you can see, this red TIE Fighter has two extra engines between the wings and cockpit (which is lower and appears to be a little larger as well), while there’s a gangplank which descends to the floor that’s being flanked by Imperial Guards. We’re assuming that they accompany whoever is the pilot of this craft!

Those guards obviously always accompanied The Emperor in the original Star Wars movies, so could this unique looking TIE Fighter belong to whoever is now in charge of the Empire? The mysterious Kylo Ren?

Starring original cast members Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker and franchise newcomers, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong’o and Max von Sydow, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to be released on December 18th, 2015. What do you think of this new look TIE Fighter?
