Unveiled today at the CBS Upfront presentation at Carnegie Hall in New York, below is the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Star Trek TV series. With that comes a very cool logo, and a tagline which promises, “New Crews. New Villains. New Heroes. New Worlds.”

Plot details are a closely guarded secret, but this Star Trek TV show is set to launch next January on the US network’s digital service. It was previously revealed though that the creative plan is for the series to introduce new characters and civilizations, existing outside of the mythology charted by previous Star Trek shows and the current movie franchises.

Hannibal showrunner Bryan Fuller (who is no stranger to this franchise after penning some of the best episodes of Star Trek: Voyager and Deep Space Nine) is in charge of this series, so it’s fair to say that Star Trek’s return to the small screen is definitely in some safe hands.

It’s obviously far too soon to know when and where this series will air in the UK, but it’s set to premiere in the US on CBS Seed in January, so we’ll hopefully get some news on that before then. Casting will also no doubt begin shortly, so be sure to stay tuned for updates…
