Even if you don’t read comic books, you’ll no doubt be familiar with Miles Morales’ name. A Spider-Man from an alternate universe and a teenager of Black Hispanic descent, many fans campaigned for the character to be the lead star in Marvel’s Spider-Man reboot instead of Peter Parker. That didn’t happen, but it looks like he’s still getting the big screen treatment.

According to a new report, the Miles Morales version of Spider-Man will be the star of Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s (The LEGO Movie) upcoming animated feature set for release in December 2018. Not much is known about the project, but those two are now unlikely to direct after penning the screenplay because they’ll be busy in a Galaxy Far, Far Away.

It’s also been mentioned that this movie won’t be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so chances are we won’t see Peter Parker hanging out with Miles on the big screen just yet.

Regardless, this is exciting news for fans of the young hero and is definitely a more exciting direction to head in rather than having Peter be the star of both a live-action and animated Spider-Man franchise. More details on this one will hopefully be released in the coming weeks and months, but check out our in-depth guide to Spider-Man: Homecoming by clicking here.
