The Meteor Man
This unusual film directed and starring Robert Townsend in the title role sees teacher Jefferson Reed hit by a meteor to then discover mystical powers as a result of his metrological encounter.
Unfortunately for everyone involved, the only super part of the film is Meteor Man’s powers which include your typical super strength but also the ability to touch a book and absorb its contents but for 30 seconds only.
With a mishmash of special abilities The Meteor Man is nowhere near some of the greats of the genre. The film is fun and silly but leaves a lot to be desired and has the most unlikely cast which includes James Earl Jones, Bill Cosby, Don Cheadle and a cameo by Luther Vandross.
Quite possibly the only time a superhero film has then spawned a series of comic-books.
