Directing from his own script, the film sees him take the lead as a porn-addicted, modern-day Don Juan, who sets out to become a less selfish person after meeting a recently-widowed older woman (Julianne Moore).

Alongside Gordon-Levitt and Moore will be the brilliant Scarlett Johansson (The Avengers), Tony Danza (Who’s the Boss?), and Rob Brown (Treme).

And now Variety report that Brie Larson, whose credits include Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, 21 Jump Street, and Rampart (which comes out on DVD/Blu-ray today), has joined the cast as Gordon-Levitt’s sister.

Production is close to wrapping, which is nothing but good news. Gordon-Levitt had to drop out of Tarantino’s Django Unchained in order to make it happen, but make it happen he has, and smart money says this is going to be a brilliant film next year. Already one of my most highly-anticipated of 2013.

Larson has been fantastic in everything I’ve seen her in to date, and though the role is likely to be small – given that production is close to wrapping – I think that the fact that Larson is doing it would suggest it’s also substantial, and I can’t wait to see her in it.

No word yet on a release date, but we have The Dark Knight Rises, Premium Rush, Looper, and Lincoln to look forward to from Gordon-Levitt as an actor in the near future, so plenty to keep us entertained. More as we get it.

And just because I can, here’s a bit of Larson in Scott Pilgrim to brighten your Monday afternoon. Enjoy.
