Sam Raimi and Danny Elfman BFF Again for Wizard of Oz

Many of you will be happy to learn that famed composer Danny Elfman has kiss and made up with former collaborator Sam Raimi, and will be performing scoring duties on the director’s next feature (the reworking of the Wizard of Oz, Oz The Great and Powerful).

Elfman famously fell out with The Evil Dead helmer during production on Spiderman 2, having forged a successful working relationship which began as far back as 1990’s Darkman. Elfman was very vocal with his grievances at the time, where he seemed to suggest it was a seismic shift of ego on Raimi’s behalf which drove a wedge between the two.

Good to see they’ve been able to patch things up. Elfman’s work with the director resembled the same symbiosis he shares with Tim Burton, and it’s also nice to know that the composer didn’t return due to financial reasons. With a roster of upcoming work on a number of high-profile projects (the adaptation of The Hunger Games, Men in Black 3, robot boxing drama Real Steel and two future projects with Burton) it looks like Elfman has never been busier.
