The latest episode of The Star Wars Show offers up a first look at a brand new ship from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story called the U-Wing. First spotted in concept art shown off during last year’s Celebration in Anaheim, it’s quite a bit different to the A, X, and Y-Wings.

It’s said that this ship serves as a troop transport and gunship, though its s-foils do lock into an alternate position so that it can function as aerial support. Why didn’t we see it in the original trilogy? That’s something Rogue One is hopefully going to find a way of addressing!

You can see the new image of the U-Wing by heading to the 1:30 minute mark in the video.

The cast of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story includes Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, and a number of others (including Darth Vader), and it’s currently set to be released on December 16th, later this year. It certainly looks like a very different type of Star Wars movie to what we’re used to!

However, whether or not that will be a good or bad thing remains to be seen, especially following reports of some more behind the scenes issues with the post production process.
