We had the pleasure of covering the new origin series of Robin Hood, speaking to its leading stars, as well as the brains behind the project.
Jack Patten and Lauren McQueen talk about stepping into two of the world’s most familiar characters and why the creators asked them to “trust your gut” — from blocking out the noise of previous Robins to leaning into instinctive performances, the pair explain how not over-studying the myth helped them find fresh, authentic takes on Rob and Marian. They discuss the casting gamble behind choosing newcomers (and what it felt like to land those roles), Marian’s strength and agency, working with Sean Bean, shooting on location in Serbia, premiere-night pizza plans with family, and how the show leaves breadcrumbs for future seasons.
Next up, directors and co-creators Jonathan English and John Glenn discuss the creative challenge of reimagining Robin Hood for MGM+, balancing the legend’s familiar essence with a bold new origin story. They reveal how deep dives into centuries-old ballads inspired their grittier, more grounded take — and why casting a newcomer as Rob was a risk worth taking. Watch both interviews in their entirety below.
