British comic actor-turned-director Richard Ayoade is heading back in front of the camera to appear alongside a roster of huge names from the US in what will be his first high-profile big-screen role (and a part which Hollywood exile Chris Tucker was reportedly toying with before passing on).

The I.T. Crowd star is set to appear in the Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg-scripted comedy ensemble Neighborhood Watch, where he’ll share the screen with big-hitters Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill in the tale of the titular group who, whilst tending to their own mundane brand of suburban policing, discover a conspiracy that threatens the entire world.

No doubt this will prove to be a useful training ground for Ayoade as he’ll be able to observe the making of a big-budget comedic mainstream feature. Wonder if co-star Ben Stiller had a hand in the decision to cast him? (he was one of the producers of Ayoade’s directorial debut, Submarine).
