It was announce earlier this week that Rhys Ifans had been cast in Sony’s Spider-Man reboot as the lead villain, but no details were given as to what villain exactly he would portray.
TheWrap have since learned that Ifans will in fact portray, none other than, Dr. Curt Connors, aka The Lizard.
Sony’s reboot of Spider-Man will be directed by Marc Webb and also stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy.
A 3D release has been scheduled for July 3, 2012.

Not sure why Dylan Baker couldn’t be used. I suppose he was Parker’s college tutor, so it’s a bit of a faff to turn him into a high school teacher. I guess Sony also want a total break from the previous franchise.
Baker seems so good as a genial tutor, yet Happiness showed he can be genuinely unpleasant at the drop of a hat. Never mind. Ifans it is. I’m sure he’ll be great.
