This week, the 14th Marbella International Film Festival, the flagship project of New World Trust, an organisation created to provide support for talented artists across the globe, takes place. It is one of the many highlights on a crowded film industry calendar, which features premieres and screenings of features, documentaries, shorts and other media. It runs from the 2nd to the 6th of October and continues its emphasis on industry networking as well as screening challenging new projects from the very best new voices. Red Rock Entertainment Company are one of the key sponsors this year, with their screenings of the Against the Tides documentary project a particular highlight.

against the tidesDirected by Stefan Stuckert, the film follows the journey of open water swimmer Beth French, who has set herself the phenomenal task of swimming across seven of the world’s most dangerous sea-channels (a challenge called Oceans Seven) in the space of a one year. The endurance needed, along with the physical and mental strength this would entail makes the film one to take note of. Look out for reviews of this one from the festival, as well as the other Red Rock Entertainment film festival news.

Gary-CollinsAs well as promoting the latest Red Rock entertainment film projects, the company’s CEO Gary Collins will be leading a workshop for industry professionals titled ‘How to Finance and Attract Executive Producers’. The workshop takes place on the 3rd of October.

This is one of the many events with many networking opportunities, culminating in the grand Gala Awards Ceremony

There is a good amount of British talent attending the festival, with the world premiere of Halloween-set Trick or Treat. Sunday, the 5th of October sees the red carpet event in Puerto Banus and audiences will be treated to the story of a darkly comic tale set over a single night at the very end of October.

Another event to look out for on the 5th of October is the World Premiere of Brighton, a comedy written by Steven Berkoff and directed by Stephen Cookson. The film, based on a day trip to the titular seaside town which goes horribly wrong, stars Phil Davis, Marion Bailey and Lesley Sharp. It also stars Larry Lamb who will be on the red carpet at the premiere along with the director.

Another event which will be of interest to festival attendees occurs on the 6th of October, when actor and radio presenter Larry Lamb delivers his workshop on acting. Face to Face with Larry Lamb gives the Eastenders and Gavin and Stacey actor the chance to regale his audience with stories from his long career and offer insight into what it takes to make it in the acting profession.

As with the world premieres, these events are great places to network with industry professionals. You can see highlights of what to expect this week in this trailer.
