4. Iron Man

The movie that started it all with a director no one would have expected to make a hugely successful superhero movie, a star who no one would ever foresee being one of Hollywood’s biggest box office draws a few years later, and a character that was at the time considered a C-List hero at best.

Iron Man was a hit, and this movie would show that Kevin Feige and Marvel’s risky approach to their released could and would pay off, and we were left with a film packed full of great performances, incredible special effects, and perhaps most importantly, heart. Jon Favreau’s first blockbuster turned Iron Man into a character who is now as big as the likes of Spider-Man and Batman, while the after-credits scene was turned into a vital storytelling device which made it worth waiting around for as we were offered our first glimpse at the Marvel Cinematic Universe though Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury.
