Ranking the 10 Marvel Studios Movies from Worst to Best

5

5. Iron Man 3

Some of you may be shocked to see Iron Man 3 so high on this list, especially after the Mandarin twist which upset so many comic book readers at the time. It was arguably a funny and clever move, but one which just didn’t sit well with fans of a pretty mediocre villain.

Put that all to one side though, and Shane Black’s take on the Armoured Avenger deserves a lot of praise for a number of other reasons too. After their previous collaboration of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, we should have known that Black and Robert Downey Jr. would deliver a smart caper of a movie, and that’s just what we got as we spent a lot of time with Tony Stark the man, not just Tony Stark, the man in an iron suit.

It was refreshing to say the least, and audiences responded to it by making Iron Man 3 the first Marvel Studios solo movie to hit $1 billion. The action was also some of the best we’ve seen to date in a superhero movie.

  1. How was Red Skull NOT a former member of the Nazi party? He broke away from them meaning his roots were IN the Nazi party. Were you watching the same movie?

  2. G of G and Captain America 2 were both overall stronger movies than the Avengers. No offense to that very good movie, but it felt as if there was very little at stake and does not stand very well as a movie all on it’s own.

  3. As much as I love all of Joss’ other work, I think Avengers Assemble is horribly overrated. It’s good, sure, but it’s not THAT good.

Plus, for me, the first Captain America is the weakest Marvel Studios movie to date. Again, it’s not bad, but it mishandled too many emotional beats and didn’t flat-out entertain in the way that every other Marvel movie did.

  4. I like the list. I’d say…
    1. Captain America: Winter Soldier
    2. Avengers
    3. Guardians of the Galaxy
    4. Iron Man
    5. Everything else tied at 5.
The first 4 stand out. The others are all kinda mediocre. The idea of how they all come together though made them all worth watching.
Don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed Iron Man 2 and 3, Thor, and the Hulk, but they all had their flaws.

  5. I quite enjoyed the Avengers, I just prefer the Winter Soldier and GotG, because they felt a bit more… cinematic in feel and quality.
