Ranking the 10 Marvel Studios Movies from Worst to Best

6. Captain America: The First Avenger

Captain America: The First Avenger was a great way of introducing Steve Rogers to the general audience, and director Joe Johnston helped to make the patriotic character (who could have easily come across as a joke or incredibly unlikeable to international audiences) into one of the best big screen superheroes.

Incredible special effects turned Chris Evans into the weedy Steve Rogers, and his touching relationship with the tough as nails Peggy Carter is easily one of the best love story subplots in the genre. Red Skull was a solid villain, though this is where we start to nitpick. Taking away his Nazi roots made him somehow less threatening, while the Tesseract – better known to fans as the Cosmic Cube – could have also been utilised than more than just a power source.

Bucky’s death was also poorly handled, but all this aside, and it was still one of Marvel’s best solo outings.

  1. How was Red Skull NOT a former member of the Nazi party? He broke away from them meaning his roots were IN the Nazi party. Were you watching the same movie?

  2. G of G and Captain America 2 were both overall stronger movies than the Avengers. No offense to that very good movie, but it felt as if there was very little at stake and does not stand very well as a movie all on it’s own.

  3. As much as I love all of Joss’ other work, I think Avengers Assemble is horribly overrated. It’s good, sure, but it’s not THAT good.

Plus, for me, the first Captain America is the weakest Marvel Studios movie to date. Again, it’s not bad, but it mishandled too many emotional beats and didn’t flat-out entertain in the way that every other Marvel movie did.

  4. I like the list. I’d say…
    1. Captain America: Winter Soldier
    2. Avengers
    3. Guardians of the Galaxy
    4. Iron Man
    5. Everything else tied at 5.
The first 4 stand out. The others are all kinda mediocre. The idea of how they all come together though made them all worth watching.
Don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed Iron Man 2 and 3, Thor, and the Hulk, but they all had their flaws.

  5. I quite enjoyed the Avengers, I just prefer the Winter Soldier and GotG, because they felt a bit more… cinematic in feel and quality.
