Ranking the 10 Marvel Studios Movies from Worst to Best

8. Thor

Kenneth Branagh was an unexpected choice to direct THOR, while at the time, a movie based on the obscure God of Thunder starring an unknown Australian actor seemed like a crazy move on Marvel’s part. It was certainly their riskiest movie to date, but it worked, and the impressive cast helped a great deal with that.

Chris Hemsworth quickly proved himself leading man material, while Tom Hiddleston stole the show as the villainous Loki. Throw in an experienced supporting cast which included the likes of Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman, and this was yet another winner for Marvel Studios.

The fish out of water element to Thor’s arrival on Earth was tremendous fun, and if the movie let itself down at all, it’s because the story took place in too short a time period. Thor fell in love and learned humility in a matter of days, though this was still a great first outing for the character overall.

  1. How was Red Skull NOT a former member of the Nazi party? He broke away from them meaning his roots were IN the Nazi party. Were you watching the same movie?

  2. G of G and Captain America 2 were both overall stronger movies than the Avengers. No offense to that very good movie, but it felt as if there was very little at stake and does not stand very well as a movie all on it’s own.

  3. As much as I love all of Joss’ other work, I think Avengers Assemble is horribly overrated. It’s good, sure, but it’s not THAT good.

Plus, for me, the first Captain America is the weakest Marvel Studios movie to date. Again, it’s not bad, but it mishandled too many emotional beats and didn’t flat-out entertain in the way that every other Marvel movie did.

  4. I like the list. I’d say…
    1. Captain America: Winter Soldier
    2. Avengers
    3. Guardians of the Galaxy
    4. Iron Man
    5. Everything else tied at 5.
The first 4 stand out. The others are all kinda mediocre. The idea of how they all come together though made them all worth watching.
Don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed Iron Man 2 and 3, Thor, and the Hulk, but they all had their flaws.

  5. I quite enjoyed the Avengers, I just prefer the Winter Soldier and GotG, because they felt a bit more… cinematic in feel and quality.
