Based on Noami Alderman’s book, the film is directed by Sebastián Lelio from a screenplay by Sebastián Lelio and Rebecca Lenkiewicz. Rachel Weisz, Rachel McAdams and Alessandro Nivola star.
After its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2017. It will be released in the US on April 27 by Bleecker Street. The film is scheduled to be released in the UK on August 24,
Disobedience Official Synopsis
The film follows a woman (Rachel Weisz) as she returns to the community that shunned her decades earlier for an attraction to a childhood friend (Rachel McAdams). Once back, their passions reignite as they explore the boundaries of faith and sexuality.
