After numerous delays, Pride And Prejudice And Zombies is finally moving forwards with Screen Gems today closing a deal to distribute the film in the US. Burr Steers is directing from a screenplay written by David O. Russell (American Hustle) and himself, and his previous credits include 17 Again and Charlie St. Cloud.

A bigger piece of news is the fact that the movie has now added Game of Thrones stars Charles Dance and Lena Headey. If you don’t already know, they play father and daughter Tywin and Cersei Lannister.

There’s no word on who they will play, but the duo join an impressive cast which currently includes Lily James, Sam Riley, Bella Heathcoate, Jack Huston, Douglas Booth, Matt Smith, and Suki Waterhouse.

As you may have already guessed, the movie puts a unique horror/comedy twist on the classic Jane Austen novel as it mixes the characters from that story with a legion of bloodthirsty undead.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies revolves around Liz Bennett (James), who is pressured by her family to marry into a wealthy upper-class home but chafes at the stiff social mores of Victorian England. Instead, she feels that she should help defend the countryside against the onslaught of a horrifying zombie plague.

It’s a unique sounding project and one which could find a great deal of success if they manage to pull it off.
