Unlike a lot of horror movies, pretty much everyone had something good to say about The Conjuring. It helps somewhat the the opening – which was pretty much a self contained short movie – was so riveting, and now the creepy doll from that sequence will be the focus of her very own spin-off movie.
New Line have today released the first poster and teaser trailer for the movie, and it appears as if director John R. Leonetti (who served as a DP on The Conjuring) has brought the same aesthetic to this spin-off. The cast meanwhile is made up of lesser known actors like Annabelle Wallis, Ward Horton, and Alfre Woodard.
Similar to how The Conjuring was teased, this trailer for Annabelle doesn’t offer up a lot of details in regards to the plot and we still don’t have an actual synopsis. However, the preview below still effectively sells the concept and provides some idea of the kind of scares we should expect this Halloween.
Warner Bros. will release Annabelle on October 3rd, 2014 and The Conjuring 2 is set for October 23rd, 2015.
