In news that almost everyone saw coming, it’s looking increasingly likely that Sony will officially reveal their Playstation Phone on December 9, with the aim of launching it commercially in February 2011.
MobileCrunch have got their hands on a mildly blurry photo of an invite sent to French blog Nowereelse.fr, which has the four infamous Playstation logos displayed alongside a fifth telephone symbol.
MobileCrunch’s insider source reports that the invite is 100% genuine and that they’ve seen the phone for real. According to them, the PS Phone’s screen can easily match the iPhone 4s retina display and is “mind-blowing”.
That said, there are fears that the phone is far from ready – although that doesn’t seem to be stopping Sony-Ericsson from pressing on with the imminent launch date.
Price-wise, the site reports that an off-contract cost of $500 would net you the handset and five free games, while games to download would be priced at mobile levels, resulting in the majority of games for under $10.
