First Picture of Peter Capaldi in Costume as The Doctor

Peter Capaldi Eyes The Doctor

Technically we’ve already seen Peter Capaldi as  The Doctor in costume, both in the hawk-like cameo (above) in the 50th anniversary edition of Doctor Who as well as the sneezegeneration in the final moments of the Christmas special. This, though, is something Whovians have been craving a look at for a while – Capaldi in costume.

The show’s Facebook page have just released this behind the scenes picture showcasing Capaldi and Jenna Louise Coleman (shout-out for her as the wayward Lydia Bennett in the Beeb’s recent Death Comes to Pemberley) on set, and Capaldi’s waistcoat and long purple overcoat look like a fine change from the cool teacher-y look of his predecessors. There’s almost some of the Pertwee about him, though I wouldn’t say that to his face.

Here’s the first picture of the man himself in costume – click to make it bigger on the inside.

  1. This isn’t the new costume – this is what Matt Smith was wearing when he regenerated, minus the bow tie which he removed beforehand. This is obviously taken just after the regeneration before he picks his new outfit, which judging by previous regenerations in the new series normally happens in the 2nd half of the first episode…
