The next chapter in the ‘James Bond’ franchise has found its writer — and it’s one with no shortage of grit, style, or pedigree.

Steven Knight, the acclaimed British screenwriter and creator behind the BAFTA-winning ‘Peaky Blinders,’ has officially signed on to write the script for Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated James Bond film. The project, still untitled, marks the first 007 instalment directed by the ‘Dune’ and ‘Sicario’ filmmaker, and represents a new creative era for the long-running spy saga.

Amy Pascal (Spider-Man: No Way Home) and David Heyman (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Harry Potter) are producing the film under their respective Pascal Pictures and Heyday Films banners, with Tanya Lapointe serving as executive producer.

Knight’s involvement brings a distinct edge to the project, promising a screenplay steeped in character depth and narrative tension. Best known as the creator, executive producer, and sole writer of ‘Peaky Blinders’ — the stylish gangster drama that turned Cillian Murphy into a household name — Knight has become one of Britain’s most sought-after storytellers across both television and film.

His expansive TV résumé includes Apple TV+’s See, the BBC’s ‘SAS Rogue Heroes’ and ‘This Town,’ FX’s ‘The Veil,’ Disney+’s ‘A Thousand Blows,’ and the Netflix adaptation of ‘All the Light We Cannot See’ Knight is also at work on the long-awaited ‘Peaky Blinders’ feature film for Netflix, as well as ‘House of Guinness,’ a historical drama set to premiere on the streamer.

The James Bond franchise has been in a period of creative transition following Daniel Craig’s departure in ‘No Time to Die’ (2021). With Villeneuve at the helm and Knight now scripting, the series appears poised to return with a bold, auteur-driven vision that could redefine 007 for a new era.

Casting details and plot specifics for the upcoming Bond film remain under wraps.
