Back in May last year, we reported that both Affleck brothers, Ben and Casey were in talks to join Netflix’s Triple Frontier. However, news has just hit us that Ben has now finally signed on to the project as well as Oscar Isaac – both men will play the leads.

A Most Violent Year’s J C Chandor will take the helm on the production as well having re-written the script from Mark Boal’s draft. Garrett Hedlund, Charlie Hunnam, Pedro Pascal, and Adia Arjona will all co-star alongside Affleck and Isaac.

Also in the news – Simon Pegg updates on Tarantino’s Star Trek idea – may not be as R-rated as people think

The new version of the story, which is set in the notorious border zone between Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil where the Igazu and Parana rivers converge – a haven for organized crime, will focus on five friends who will find their friendship tested when they reunite to take down a South American drug lord. This leads to triggering an unintended chain of events.

The project has had a turbulent time getting off the ground thus far and has previously seen Johnny Depp, Tom Hanks, Will Smith and Mahershala Ali all attached to star at some point. Detroit’s Kathryn Bigelow had also been attached to direct at one point in the past too.

Filming is due to commence as early as next week in California, Columbia, and Hawaii.

Oscar Isaac can currently be seen on Netflix, opposite Natalie Portman in Alex Garland’s sci-fi outing, Annihilation.
