Universal Pictures UK has released a sparkling new trailer for ‘One Night Only,’ a modern rom-com that asks a deceptively simple question: what if one chaotic, impulsive night turns out to be the best thing that ever happened to you?
Directed by Will Gluck, the filmmaker behind ‘Anyone But You’ and ‘Easy A,’ At the heart of the story are Allie and Owen, played by Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner. She’s a hopeful romantic. He’s freshly dumped. Together, they collide on a night when the rules of dating are… unusually relaxed.
Set in a lightly stylised version of New York City, the premise spins around a once-a-year event where singles are encouraged to keep things casual. Yet Allie and Owen are outliers in this sea of fleeting encounters, both secretly searching for something real. When sparks fly, fate seems ready to step in. Unfortunately, fate also appears to enjoy a good game of hide-and-seek.
A cascade of missteps, detours, and side quests keeps pulling them apart just as quickly as they find each other. The trailer teases a rhythm of near-misses and “almost” moments, like two magnets stubbornly refusing to align until the final beat.
Beyond its central duo, ‘One Night Only’ boasts an ensemble of Maya Hawke (Stranger Things), Julia Fox (Uncut Gems), King Princess (Nine Perfect Strangers), Ben Marshall (Saturday Night Live), Ziwe (Baited with Ziwe) and screen icons Molly Ringwald and LeVar Burton.
