Filmmaker and actress, Olivia Wilde has been set to helm the real-life story of one gymnast’s rise to glory in the feature ‘Perfect’.
Based on the book ‘Landing On My Feet, A Diary Of Dreams’ by Kerri Strug and John P. Lopez, the story focuses on gymnast Strug’s triumph against all odds to win Team USA’s first gold medal at the 1996 Olympics. Ronnie Sandahl will pen the script.
“This is a film about what real power looks like, It is an excruciatingly beautiful underdog story that will thrust the audience into the heart of Kerri Strug with unblinking, raw honesty. It is an epic sports movie that will deliver on all the wish-fulfilment that makes those films so thrilling to watch. At the same time, it is unlike any sports movie you have seen before.” said Wilde.

Nik Bower for Riverstone Pictures and Thomas Benski for Pulse Films, together with Jeremy Baxter and Moss Barclay will produce. Wilde will executive produce with Deepak Nayar, Marisa Clifford and Sandahl.
Wilde hit the jackpot in the director’s chair with the smartly comical ‘Booksmart’ last year, which was her full-length feature directorial debut. As an actress, she can be currently seen in Clint Eastwood’s ‘Richard Jewel’. Wilde’s other credits include ‘Christmas With The Coopers’ alongside Steve Martin and Diane Keaton, Dan Fogelman’s ‘Life Itself’ with Oscar Isaac and ‘Bojack Horseman’ in which she voices the character of Charlotte Moore’.
