Slated for release in the spring of 2014, Darren Aronofsky’s Noah is one of the most ambitious and highest-budgeted films currently in production, and following the Oscar-winning Black Swan, the anticipation and buzz surrounding the project is naturally high.

We got our first look at a bearded Russell Crowe as the eponymous Noah back in the summer, followed by a fantastic sneak peek inside the ark last month, and now a handful of new set photos have arrived, giving us a look Crowe with a new buzz cut, alongside the wonderful Jennifer Connelly and Emma Watson.

“In Aronofsky’s take on the Biblical tale, Noah is a man who loves Earth and all of its animal inhabitants, but has become disillusioned with the way humans have treated their planet.”

The trio lead a fantastic cast, joined by Anthony Hopkins, Logan Lerman, and Douglas Booth.

Aronofsky penned the original script himself with Ari Handel (The Fountain), and the great John Logan (Skyfall, Gladiator) provided a rewrite.

Noah is currently set for release on 28th March, 2014 in the UK and US. Ordinarily, blockbusters tend not to be likely candidates for Oscar contenders, but this could well be an exception, particularly in a category like Best Production Design. It’s very early days yet, but it’s promising to be epic. For now, here are the new set photos, which you can click to enlarge. More as we get it.
