The film is an adaptation of the play, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf, and features an excellent female ensemble including Janet Jackson, Loretta Devine, Kimberly Elise, Macy Gray, Thandie Newton, Phylicia Rashad, Anika Noni Rose, Tessa Thompson, Kerry Washington, and Whoopi Goldberg.
