New Mutants director Josh Boone has taken to social media to tease the identity of the team of mutants we’ll see in his X-Men spinoff, and it’s a lineup which should make fans of the comics very happy. There’s nothing to say to that this is the final roster, and the filmmaker may just be building anticipation for the still undated movie, but it’s still pretty intriguing!
As you can seen in the piece of artwork below (by Marvel’s Phil Noto), we have Magik, Wolfsbane, Mirage, Cannonball, and Sunspot, though a later post seemingly also confirmed the presence of Warlock. All of these are fan-favourite heroes, and if this really is the list of characters who will feature in the New Mutants movie, it’s near impossible to complain!
Earlier this year, it was reported that Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) was being eyed for Wolfsbane, while Anya Taylo-Joy (The Witch) was up for the role of Colossus’ sister, Magik.
The former has not denied that in recent interviews, while it’s also been claimed that both James McAvoy and Alexandra Shipp – the X-Men franchise’s Professor X and Storm – will also make some sort of appearance. Either way, this movie revolving around a group of teenage mutants in training has a ton of potential and should bring in the Young Adult audience.
Expected to be released in 2017 or 2018, more New Mutants details will hopefully be revealed soon, but in the meantime, be sure to check out our handy guide right here.
