While social distancing may sound like a bad thing, this is a time to come together with your partner, friends or family and finally watch those Netflix shows and movies you’ve been talking about. Here are some of the best Netflix picks to keep you going during these times of social distancing.
Accessing Shows from Abroad
Before we continue, if you have been isolated in another country, you can still access your Netflix account with the help of a VPN. Accessing your Netflix account from abroad is as easy as finding a VPN for your laptop. This changes your IP address to any country you wish, meaning if you are in the UK, you can still access your US Netflix account and vice versa. This also means you can switch between American and English Netflix if some of the above aren’t available in your country, meaning you never have to miss out.
Now on to the shows!
Any Friends fan will rave about this show, and there are plenty of episodes to keep you going (236 to be exact). Following 6 friends in Manhattan, this show is full of laughs with plenty of story twists to keep you on your toes. If you want to make some new friends during isolation, now is the time to meet Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Phoebe, Ross, and Joey.
A Quiet Place
For the horror fans out there, social distancing doesn’t mean giving up your favorite horror movies. A Quiet Place is one of the most popular movies on Netflix and follows a post-apocalyptic world in which a family must try to survive in total silence. Get this watched, as A Quiet Place Part II is set to be released sometime this year.
If you want a TV show you can truly connect with, look no further than Sex Education. This follows a group of teenagers through the most awkward stages of their high school journey, learning how to love and discovering their own sexuality. Full of cringeworthy moments that will keep you laughing from start to finish, this is a great look back on the teenage experience.
A sci-fi thriller that packs plenty of punches, Stranger Things will keep you gripped from the first episode to the last. A group of children in the quiet town of Hawkins soon find that everything isn’t as it seems as a mysterious girl appears, and their friend goes missing.
Stranger Things was super popular when it came out, and with a new series fast-approaching, social distancing is the perfect excuse to finally binge-watch this series before the next one is released.
Rick and Morty
A popular adult cartoon, Rick and Morty is a series you can watch over and over again without ever getting bored. Rick and Morty follows an alcoholic scientist and his nerdy grandson on adventures throughout space and time, having plenty of brushes with death along the way. This is an easy to watch series, making it a great pick if you want to relax without having to concentrate too hard on what’s going on.
The second series of You has recently been released, making this a great watch for anyone who has read the books or enjoys dark thrillers. You follow Joe, a bookstore clerk with a dangerous obsession for a college student who one day walks into his store. In You, nothing is as it first seems. Starring Gossip Girl’s Penn Badgley and with Pretty Little Liar’s Shay Mitchell, as well as some talented new-comers, this series is gripping from the get-go.
Now You See Me
A comedy turned heist movie like no other, if you haven’t already given this 2013 hit a watch, now is the time to give it a go. This movie follows four magicians, whose tricks aren’t exactly what they seem, and the FBI agent who is hot on their tail. Starring some pretty big names in comedy including Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg, and Woody Harrelson, this is a big hit that deserves a place on your Friday night movie list.
Social distancing offers time for us all to catch up on some Netflix favorites. The above TV shows and movies will keep you busy until your self-isolation period is over.
