Netflix has announced the start of production on a brand-new, four-part detective series from Emmy-winning creator Charlie Brooker (Black Mirror). The currently untitled Charlie Brooker project (working title) is described as a “profoundly serious, stunningly original crime thriller” that dives deep into obsession, morality, and the darkness lurking beneath the surface of modern Britain.
The series will star Paddy Considine (House of the Dragon, Mobland), Georgina Campbell (Barbarian, Watchers), and Lena Headey (Game of Thrones, The Abandons).
Set between the industrial grit of the fictional Northern city of Bleakford and the shadowy corners of London, the story follows a tormented detective (Considine) determined to stop a ritualistic serial killer before their reign of terror claims even more victims. The thriller promises to blend atmospheric tension with Brooker’s trademark sharp edge, noting that the series “contains blood and frowning.”

Created by Charlie Brooker and directed by Al Campbell (Inside No. 9, Stath Lets Flats), the series is now officially in production.
Netflix describes the project as a bold departure from Brooker’s satirical works, delivering instead a gripping, straight-faced descent into crime and punishment — though one still laced with his unmistakable voice.
Further casting and release details will be announced in due course.
