Will-Forte-in-NebraskaStarting its limited release in the US earlier in the month, and arriving in the UK at the end of next week, Alexander Payne’s Nebraska has been one of the most talked-about films on the festival circuit this year.

Payne’s follow-up to The Descendants had its world premiere at Cannes in the spring – you can read our review here – and has been tipped to earn Bruce Dern a Best Actor nomination ever since.

Last week, Paramount released two new character featurettes for Dern and his on-screen wife, Kate Grant (June Squibb). And as promised, the studio has returned this week with the final profile for Dern’s on-screen son, David, played brilliantly by Will Forte.

After receiving a sweepstakes letter in the mail, a cantankerous father (Bruce Dern) thinks he’s struck it rich, and wrangles his son (Will Forte) into taking a road trip to claim the fortune. Shot in black and white across four states, Nebraska tells the stories of family life in the heartland of America.

Bob Odendirk and Stacy Keach complete a great leading cast, with some excellent support from Tim Driscoll, Devin Ratnay, Mary Louise Wilson, Rance Howard, and plenty more playing the extended Grant family.

Payne is directing from a script penned by Bob Nelson, making his feature debut as a writer with the black-and-white road movie.

Nebraska will continue to expand its limited release in the US in the coming weeks, and will be released in the UK on 6th December.
